The present invention relates to a sizing agent for a carbon fiber and a carbon fiber manufactured by using the same and, more particularly, to a sizing agent for a carbon fiber including epoxy resin and unsaturated polyester with the unsaturated ester reacting with unsaturated fatty acid and de-epoxidized hydrogenated bisphenol A. The carbon fiber according to the present invention causes no material property degradation in a composite material which uses a vinyl ester or polyester resin as a matrix resin as well as a composite material which uses epoxy as the matrix resin. In addition, the carbon fiber according to the present invention has a higher level of impact strength than a composite material that is applied to a carbon fiber in which only epoxy is subjected to a sizing treatment.
