The invention relates to network nodes and methods therein for network congestion mitigation. A method in a first network node comprises entering a congestion mitigation mode, CMM; receiving a service request originating from a wireless device; and, in response to said service request, when the service request fulfills a criterion: redirecting the wireless device to a predefined e MBMS session, thereby enabling an informative alternative to rejection of the service request.
