<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a mechanism for making it possible to compensate for image quality, which can be degraded as a result of encoding, by utilizing an advantage of a multi-bit system while enabling decoding by a JPEG decoder. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: a stream acquisition part for acquiring a first encoded stream corresponding to upper eight bits of high gradation image data having a bit depth more than eight bits and a second encoded stream corresponding to the remaining bits of the image data; a first decoding part for generating first image data by decoding the first encoded stream using a JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) system; a second decoding part for generating second image data by decoding the second encoded stream; and a combining part for reconstructing the high gradation image data by combining the first image data and the second image data with each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
