PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming plastic image fibers (PIF) that can flexibly response to changes of manufacturing specifications such as a pixel diameter, pixel number, or core area rate, suppress dark defects, precisely arrange pixels, and transfer images with high accuracy.SOLUTION: The method for forming plastic image fibers sequentially includes the steps of: preparing a plurality of single-core fiber wires 16 corresponding to the number of pixels of a PIF 20, each wire having a core coated with a cladding layer (Step A); obtaining a bundle preform 19 having a clad pipe 18 formed of clad material and having a hollow part containing the single-core fiber wires 16 (Step B); and heating and drawing the top of the bundle preform 19 in a decompression atmosphere to form a multiple-core fiber (Step D). In Step B, a solution containing a surface-active agent is used for bundling the single-core fiber wires 16.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3D |
