The invention relates to a fume room (1) with an operator space (2) bounded by a first (10) and a second (8) perforated wall that are parallel. Air movement takes place through the perforated walls from the first perforated wall towards the second perforated wall. The perforations have a distribution of perforation area per wall area on the first and second walls that are essentially identical, with the exception that the perforation area per wall area on the second wall is higher than on the first wall. The fume room (1) has a third perforated wall (9) parallel to the first (10) and the second (8) walls, and being arranged downstream from the second wall. The distribution of perforation area per wall area on the third wall is essentially identical to that on the first and the second walls, with the exception that the perforation area per wall area on the third wall is higher than that of the second wall. With this step-wise increase in perforation area per wall area, the risk of a turbulent air flow is minimised. |
