PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high-speed optical transmission, and to provide a method and an apparatus for generating 16 quadrature amplitude modulated signals with a simple and/or low cost architecture.SOLUTION: One embodiment of the invention is related using parallel phase/quadrature modulators 102, driven by data signals 103 and 104 and a clock signal, and curving a pulse by an intensity modulator 105. The 16 quadrature amplitude modulated optical signal may be detected, by a coherent detector 106, after transmission on the basis of digital signal processing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
