Disclosed are a display device and a method for implementing a new-connection notification function for an MHL signal source. The display device comprises a control module and a background detection module. The control module is used for: when the display device is in a non-MHL signal source mode, controlling a first MHL interface transfer switch arranged between an MHL signal source interface and a signal decoding processor of the display device to be switched on, and starting the background detection module electrically connected to the first MHL interface transfer switch. The control module is further used for: when detecting that an MHL signal source is connected, displaying new-connection notification information according to preconfigured new-connection notification information or switching the current signal source mode of the display device to the MHL signal source mode. The background detection module is used for detecting in real time whether an MHL signal source is connected. The present invention can solve the problem that the new-connection notification function cannot be realized when an MHL signal source is connected to a display device in a non-MHL signal source mode. |
