742.114. Contact-members for switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 10, 1953 [Nov. 14, 1952], No. 28805/52. Class 38(5) The moving contacts 6 of a multiple contact switch are mounted on one or more diaphragms 4, 5 interleaved as shown with parallel insulating plates 1, 2, the diaphragms and plates being supported at the periphery by, say, three pillars 3 spaced equidistantly. In the form shown the diaphragms are star-shaped with three arms, but there could, if desired, be only two arms, arranged diametrically. The contacts 6 are operated simultaneously by a rod 13 which may be connected to the electromagnetically operated actuating mechanism described in Specification 744,474. Biasing springs 15, 16 tend to move the two contacts 6 respectively into engagement with two sets of three contacts 7 mounted in spaced positions on insulating discs 8, 8a supported by the pillars 3. |
