The present invention provides a method for producing retinal progenitor cells, said method comprising: (1) a first step in which aggregates of pluripotent stem cells are formed by placing pluripotent stem cells in a suspension culture in a serum-free medium; and (2) a second step in which the aggregates formed in step (1) are placed in a suspension culture in a serum-free medium or a serum medium containing a bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling pathway agent which does not contain a Sonic Hedgehog signaling pathway agent, producing aggregates containing retinal progenitor cells.
