PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for processing pipes or other elongated materials by means of a laser beam, which allows favorable and flexible machining of various different kinds of materials.SOLUTION: A device includes a machine bed (1), and a retaining element for retaining a tool or cutting means, the retaining element being mounted so as to be slidable and rotatable relative to the machine bed (1). The material to be processed passes through an opening (5) surrounded by the retaining element during machining, the opening (5) forming a tunnel within which machining can be performed. The slidably and rotatably mounted retaining element is an elongated hollow rotational element (elongated rotational element). The laser beam source (7) for the laser beam (8) is arranged as the tool or cutting means inside an area between both ends of the elongated rotational element.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
