Disclosed is a method and systems for controlling Continuous Packet Connectivity (CPC) operation in a wireless communication system. The method includes determining that there is a potential CPC activation status mismatch between a user equipment (UE) and its serving base station. In response to determining that there is a potential CPC activation status mismatch, sending a CPC recovery indicator in a frame header of at least one user plane frame sent to the serving base station for the UE.
