The present invention provides methods and compositions for treating arteriosclerotic vascular diseases by cyclohexenone compounds. In some embodiments, the compound in the methods inhibits PDGF-stimulated smooth muscle cell proliferation or migration. In some embodiments, the atherosclerosis is associated with coronary artery disease, aneurysm, arteriosclerosis, myocardial infarction, embolism, stroke, thrombosis, angina, vascular plaque inflammation, vascular plaque rupture, Kawasaki disease, calcification or inflammation. In some embodiments, the compound lowers low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in the subject.
