A portable ultrasound system for use in veterinary examinations of animals comprising: a battery powered device having an ultrasound probe that captures ultrasound images which are stored and presented to the device operator live via a headset display; a user interface through which the stored images may be viewed and one image selected; a user input navigation device (eg. pointing device such as mouse) allowing the user to select a point in the selected image; an image analysis engine that uses the selected point as a seed for analysing the image and identifying a feature in the image. The image may be segmented and the feature outline may be presented. Image and feature may be stored in a database. A user may be presented with a list of choices specifying types of features with associated parameters. Feature boundaries may be closed or open. Feature dimension measurements may be calculated and converted into biological measurements, such as the approximate age of a foetus. Images may be a sequence of video frames. |
