A gas turbine engine having a casing 1 and a bonding patch 10 bonded to a surface of the casing 1 and a liner 2 attached to the bonding patch 10. The bonding patch 10 comprising, a bonding region 12 configured to receive an adhesive for bonding the patch 10 to a surface. A plurality of de-bonding elements 16 are configured to move (e.g. vibrate) relative to the bonding region 12 in response to an energizing signal. The signal may be electrical or a sound wave and may have a frequency in the ultrasonic range. The de-bonding elements 16 may have one or more transducers configured to move relative to the bonding region 12 when signal is applied, the transducers may be piezoelectric and the signal may be electric. There may be two groups of de-bonding elements 16 of different lengths which resonate to different signals. The de-bonding elements 16 may be configured as fingers projecting into the bonding region 12, or may be configured as an array of dimples. A method for detaching said bonding patch 10 from the casing 1 is also provided. |
