PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image from being missed by a fold when reading a document in a folded state.SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus is configured to generate a read image over a whole area of the document by reading both sides of the document in the folded state. The image reading apparatus includes: an image acquisition section for acquiring read images on one side and another side of the document in the folded state, respectively; and an image processing section 100 which complements and outputs an image in a portion corresponding to a fold portion in the document in the folded state on the basis of images in areas neighboring to the fold portion in the read image on the one side of the document and the read image on the other side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
