PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel anti-human c-Met antibody that inhibits the c-Met receptor, which is a cell surface receptor for hepatocyte growth factor (HGF).SOLUTION: An antibody or antigen binding fragment thereof obtained by humanizing an anti-human c-Met antibody from llamas immunized with the human gastric cell line MKN-45 overexpressing c-Met exhibits at least two of the following properties: (a) being a strict antagonist of HGF-mediated activation of the c-Met receptor, (b) inhibiting HGF-independent activation of the human c-Met protein, and (c) not inducing significant down-regulation of the cell surface human c-Met protein.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
