PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device which illuminates an area facing a light guide plate with substantially uniform illumination intensity and turns off a light source to enable an opposite area across the light guide plate and a metal thin film layer to be visible or enable natural illumination from the opposite area with light transmissivity of the light guide plate and the metal thin film layer when lighting is not necessary.SOLUTION: A lighting device of the invention includes: a light guide plate; a metal thin film layer which is disposed on a light reflection part formation surface of the light guide plate and has light transmissivity; and a light source which is disposed facing an end surface of the light guide plate and radiates light to the end surface of the light guide plate. The lighting device is formed so as to radiate illumination light from the light source from a light radiation surface of the light guide plate to illuminate an area facing the light guide plate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
