The invention relates to the detection of contaminating male DNA in prenatal fetal gender test which allows elimination of false-positive results and thus contributes to the reliability of the non-invasive prenatal fetal gender determination. In particular, one aspect of the invention provides simple, fast and cheap method for detection of contaminating non-fetal male DNA in a sample of circulating free DNA isolated from maternal plasma. Particular feature of fetal DNA in maternal blood - its fragmentation - was used as base for the said method. Another aspect of the invention provides a kit for qPCR detecting a contaminating non-fetal male DNA in a sample of circulating free DNA isolated from maternal plasma. |
