A modular furniture system comprising a plurality of panel elements 902 each with first and second major faces and an aperture 106 which passes through the faces, a panel connector 904 comprising a bridging element and at least two bosses spaced apart on the bridging element wherein the bosses have a complimentary fit with the apertures 106 of the panels 902, a first fastener recess at a distal end of the boss and a second fastener recess at a proximal end and a fastener 700 associated with each boss comprising a head which can be received in the first fastener recess and extends beyond the perimeter of the boss and a tail which engages the head and sits flush in the second fastener recess. The apertures 106 and bosses may be triangular, circular or square and the fasteners 904 may screw together. The arrangement may be used to make beds, cots, chairs, tables and desks. |
