The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for calculating the grade of a road using a G-sensor, which determines if calculation of the grade of a road using a G-sensor is possible to distinguish the pitching motion of a vehicle from the gradient of the grade of the road, to change the coefficient of a low-pass filter according to the rate of change of the grade of the road, to minimize the response delay time, and to more precisely calculate the value of the grade of the road. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for calculating the grade of a road using a G-sensor can comprise the steps of: determining if a condition for calculating the grade of a road using a G-sensor is satisfied; when the condition for calculating the grade of the road using a G-sensor is satisfied, calculating the value of the grade of the road by using the G-sensor and renewing; filtering the value of the grade of the road calculated; comparing the rate of change of the value of the grade of the road calculated with a first set value; when the rate of change of the value of the grade of the road calculated is the first set value or higher, comparing the difference between the value of the grade of the road calculated and the value of the grade of the road filtered with a second set value; and when the difference between the value of the grade of the road calculated and the value of the grade of the road filtered is the second set value or higher, filtering by changing the coefficient of the filter. |
