PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an art for improving accuracy of focus detection by a solid state image pickup device having a plurality of photoelectric conversion element in one pixel.SOLUTION: A solid state image pickup device having a plurality of pixels comprises: a semiconductor substrate; and a light guide structure located on a light receiving side of the semiconductor substrate. At least one of the plurality of pixels has a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements on the substrate for generating a signal for focus detection. The light guide structure has a first gap for defining an optical path and a second gap for defining an optical path in the pixel having the plurality of photoelectric conversion elements. A distance between an end of the second gap on the side opposite to the semiconductor substrate and the light receiving surface of the semiconductor substrate is shorter than a distance between an end of the first gap on the side opposite to the semiconductor substrate and the light receiving surface of the semiconductor substrate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
