Network nodes are described. A network node includes a transmitter, a receiver and a processor. The transmitter transmits at least one signal advertising the network node as the source of at least one specific content located outside of an information centric network (ICN) or a specific domain or all content located outside of the ICN. The receiver receives a request, from a requesting device, including an identifier for a piece of content for which the at least one signal advertised the ICN as the source of. The processor, in conjunction with the transmitter and the receiver, determines a forwarding rule for the request based at least on the identifier included in the request, forwards the request based on the determined forwarding rule, receives the piece of content, and forwards the received piece of content to the requesting device. The network node may be a Border Gateway translating between ICN and IP networking. |
