<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain both of reduction in time from when an image forming apparatus receives image data to when the image data is printed out, and suppression in wasteful toner consumption. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: an image carrier; an exposing device including an adjustment period for adjusting output power while exposing the image carrier before image formation; a developing device including a toner carrier which carries toner, capable of switching between a contact state in which the image carrier is in contact with the toner carrier and a separation state in which they are separated from each other, for switching from the separation state to the contact state when a portion of the image carrier exposed in the adjustment period is in a development position, and developing an electrostatic latent image with the toner on the image carrier in the contact state; and adjustment means for, in a predetermined period including a switching time from the separation state to the contact state, setting a toner amount per unit hour conveyed to a developing nip in the execution of exposure adjustment to be less than that in the image formation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
