Provided are a magnetic fluid composite for display and a magnetic fluid composite display device which may recognize a subtle shape caused by a spike phenomenon, and may be colored except black. A magnetic fluid composite (1) for display may contain water (10), an oily magnetic fluid (20), and soft magnetic light shielding pieces (30). Each of the light shielding pieces (30) is flake shaped; and is formed by laminating a hydrophilic layer (31), a light shielding layer (33), and a hydrophilic layer (35) in order. The light shielding pieces (30) are arranged along an interface (1i) between water (10) and the oily magnetic fluid (20), and the interface (1i) between water (10) and the oily magnetic fluid (20) is covered with the light shielding pieces (30). A magnetic fluid composite display device (2) comprises: a transparent container (40) having a container body (41) made from a glass and a lid (42) made from resin; a magnetic fluid composite (1) accommodated within the transparent container (40); and a permanent magnet (50) applying a magnetic force to the magnetic fluid composite (1). |
