The assembly has spaced inner and outer face sheets, as well as one or more intermediate panels positioned between the inner and outer face sheets. The assembly provides an enhanced ability to dissipate blast or projectile impact forces and to carry the forces throughout the assembly, thus maintaining sufficient structural integrity in the building to enable the occupants to evacuate, to enable contents to be evacuated, and to enable reuse of the building itself.

A structural assembly for use in constructing a building structure, the assembly comprising: a first face sheet; a second face sheet, wherein the second face sheet is substantially parallel to the first face sheet; a first internal support connected to and extending inwardly from the first face sheet; a second internal support connected to and extending inwardly from the second face sheet; the first internal support and the second internal support comprising a primary support member extending toward an opposing face sheet; the primary support members of the first internal support comprising a first end and a second end and a predetermined length therebetween, the first ends provided proximal the first and second face sheets, respectively, and the second ends provided proximal to each other; wherein each of the primary support members comprise at least one angled panel extending from the primary support member at a predetermined angle, the at least one angled panel adapted to contact the opposing primary support member when a portion of the assembly is deformed; wherein the first internal support member and the second internal support member are provided in a spaced apart manner in a first position of use, the first position of use corresponding to a position wherein the assembly has not been deformed, and wherein the first internal support member and the second internal support member are provided in force transmitting communication with each other when at least one of the first and second face sheets are impacted by a force.
