To assist in the loop formation on a parallel bed machine, a pair of members 51, 52 pivotally mounted above the needle beds is provided, each member being adapted to press against the outside of the knocking over comb in turn as the direction of movement of the cam carriage is changed so that the arms 51a, 52a of the members press the loops extending around the comb down. To assist the swinging movement of the members when the carriage is reversed a brush is provided adapted to engage in the slots in one of the combs. Specification 867,678 is referred to.
