According to an embodiment of the present invention, a secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly including first and second electrodes; a case storing the electrode assembly; a first terminal electrically connected to the first electrode; a second terminal electrically connected to the second electrode; a cap plate combined with the case, and including a short hole; a membrane fixed to the cap plate, and electrically separating or short-circuiting the first and second electrodes; and a short protrusion electrically connected to the second electrode, and placed on an upper part of the membrane to protrude towards the membrane. The short protrusion is one-sided from the center of the short hole.
