Provided is a dehumidifier that can achieve a set humidity while suppressing intermittent operation of a compressor. The dehumidifier comprises: a dehumidifying means (6) that has a refrigerant circuit including a compressor (12) for compressing a refrigerant, a condenser (13) for cooling the compressed refrigerant, a capillary tube (14) for reducing the pressure of the cooled refrigerant, and an evaporator (15) for causing the pressure-reduced refrigerant to absorb heat, said dehumidifying means removing moisture contained in the air by condensing the moisture with the evaporator (15); a blower fan (9) that draws in air from the room (A) and blows into the room dry air (B) that has passed through the evaporator (15); a humidity sensor (4) that detects the humidity in the room; and a control means (10) for controlling the compressor (12) of the dehumidifying means (6) and the blower fan (9) so that the detected humidity detected by the humidity sensor is a set humidity. The control means (10) controls the compressor frequency so that the rotations of the compressor (12) per unit time decrease in stages as the difference between the detected humidity and the set humidity becomes smaller.
