Provided are a soft mold for producing an optical sheet and a production method thereof. More specifically, the purpose of the present invention is to provide a soft mold for producing an optical sheet, which has high intensity and is also capable of reducing step in the height at joint of the produced optical sheet. The soft mold production method of the present invention comprises the following steps: preparing a soft mold which is used for producing a plate-type optical sheet and on which a mold pattern layer is formed on one side of a mold base material; positioning the mold base material so that both ends thereof can surface-contact each other while the mold pattern layer faces outward; attaching a binding tape onto the other side of the mold base material in a surface-contacted portion; and fusing both ends of the mold base materials by irradiating the surface-contacted portion with laser from an upper part thereof.
