Provided are: a process in which a foamed rubber that is even and has a high open-cell content can be formed by a dissolution method and thereby a rubber roller for thermal fixing which has satisfactory fixing properties can be inexpensively and stably produced; and a rubber roller produced by such process. The process for producing a rubber roller for thermal fixing comprises: a step in which a rubber layer is formed on the outer periphery of a metal core from a silicone rubber composition containing a water-soluble sugar powder and triethylene glycol; and a step in which the rubber layer is vulcanized and thereafter the sugar powder and the triethylene glycol are dissolved away, thereby forming a foamed rubber layer. |
