[Also in Divisions B2, B5, B6 and C3] Tungsten carbide studs which have been sheathed in a thermoplastic polyarylene polyether are embedded in premoulded holes in a tyre tread to give the tyre better grip when braking, accelerating, turning or under winter driving conditions. The thermoplastic polyarylene polyether may be prepared by reacting 2,2 - bis - (4 - hydroxyphenyl) - propane with 4,4<SP>1</SP>-dichlorodiphenylsulphone and the studs are in the form of cylindrical pins “ inch in diameter and ¢ inch long.</p> |
