The invention relates to a method for configuring a network connection between a client and a telecommunications network, wherein the telecommunications network comprises a router having an interface and a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server, wherein the client is connected to the telecommunications network via the interface of the router, wherein the method comprises the steps of:
-- transmitting a first message, via the interface of the router, from the client to the router, wherein the first message is related to a request for an Internet Protocol (IP) address assignment for realizing an Internet Protocol (IP) session or connection between the client and the telecommunications network,
-- transmitting a second message from the router to the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server, wherein the second message comprises interface identification data, wherein the interface identification data are related to an identification of the interface of the router being used for the transmission of the first message,
-- obtaining, by the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server, an Internet Protocol (IP) address for realizing the Internet Protocol (IP) session or connection between the client and the telecommunications network, wherein the Internet Protocol (IP) address is obtained, by the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server, in dependence of the interface identification data included in the second message,
-- transmitting a third message, from the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server to the router, wherein the third message comprises the Internet Protocol (IP) address for realizing the Internet Protocol (IP) session or connection. |
