A tobacco pipe comprises a cup-shaped bowl 10 detachably engaged with a cupped bowl support 11, and a stem 12 extending from the bowl support, the bowl having an opening 10b in its base through which smoke may pass, and a retaining disc 15 disposed below, but detailed from, the base of the bowl for holding an absorbent pad 14 in position in the bowl support. The disc 15 is made of metal, has a pad engaging projection 15b, holes 15c through which smoke may pass, and is fitted into a recess 10a in the bowl. The stem 12 includes an outer wall 12a with openings therein, find an inner wall 12b through which smoke from the bowl passes to the mouthpiece 13. The bowl is engaged with the bowl support by a screw threaded washer having an internal thread for attachment to the bowl and an external thread for attachment to the bowl support. The bowl may be made of briar, and the bowl support and stem of metal. |
