Blending customized user dictionaries

Techniques for constructing a set of customized dictionaries for a particular user are described. Each of the customized dictionaries in the set may include a different blending of one or more frequently used words collected from texts submitted by one or more users. A copy of the set of customized dictionaries may be sent to each of a plurality of electronic devices associated with the particular user to be stored on the electronic device and to aid the particular user in inputting text to the electronic device.

1. A method, performed by one or more computing devices, comprising:
constructing a set of customized dictionaries for a particular user, each of the customized dictionaries in the set comprising a different blending of one or more frequently used words collected from texts submitted by one or more users; sending a copy of the set of customized dictionaries to each of a plurality of electronic devices associated with the particular user to be stored on the electronic device and to aid the particular user in inputting text to the electronic device; in response to the particular user inputting text to a first electronic device of the plurality of electronic devices associated with the particular user:
selecting a first customized dictionary from the copy of the set of customized dictionaries stored on the first electronic device, the first customized dictionary selected based upon an identification of the first electronic device as a mobile device; andutilizing the selected first customized dictionary to aid the particular user in inputting the text to the first electronic device; andin response to the particular user inputting text to a second electronic device of the plurality of electronic devices associated with the particular user:
selecting a second customized dictionary from the copy of the set of customized dictionaries stored on the second electronic device, the second customized dictionary is different from the first customized dictionary and selected based upon an identification of the second electronic device as a non-mobile device; andutilizing the selected second customized dictionary to aid the particular user in inputting the text to the second electronic device.
