Disclosed in the present invention are a resource allocating method and an apparatus related thereto, the method comprising: when a PCIE (Peripheral Component Interface Express) server is powered on, detecting through a PCIE bus whether a switch is connected to a PCIE interface or not, a virtual terminal device being built in the switch; if the switch is already connected to the PCIE interface, obtaining first resource description information of the virtual terminal device; allocating a first resource to the virtual terminal device according to the first resource description information; receiving second resource description information, sent by the switch, of a physical terminal device corresponding to the virtual terminal device, the physical terminal device being a physical terminal device to which the switch is connected after the PCIE server is powered on; judging whether the first resource is not smaller than the resource described by the second resource description information, and if so, triggering the switch to open a port for connecting the PCIE server with the physical terminal device and allocating the second resource in the first resource to the physical terminal device through the port, the second resource being the resource described by the second resource description information. With implementation of the embodiments of the present invention, the rate of utilization of resources can be improved.
