PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that allows for selecting a code corresponding to a process associated with management of a book from a plurality of codes and executing the process.SOLUTION: A server 200 has functions expressed as; a communication unit 230; a process reception unit 241 that receives a request for a process associated with management of a book; a code acquisition unit 242 that acquires a code read from the book; an information acquisition unit 243 that acquires information identified by the acquired code; a determination unit 244 that determines whether the requested process is executable or not based on the acquired information; a process execution unit 245 that executes the process in accordance with the acquired information if the process is determined to be executable; and a storage unit 220. The process reception unit 241, the code acquisition unit 242, the information acquisition unit 243, the determination unit 244, and the process execution unit 245 are realized through software processing by a control unit 210.
