Disclosed are a mobile terminal and a control method thereof. The mobile terminal and the control method of the present invention comprises the following steps of: detecting at least one shaking motion; performing a corresponding certain function by considering at least one from a screen displayed on a display unit, a direction of the shaking motion, and the number of the shaking motion being detected; and displaying a result screen on which the certain function has been performed. According to the present invention, different result screens are provided in accordance with the motions of shaking the terminal, which arouses user interest. Certain functions can be performed only with the motions of shaking the terminal, so user convenience can be improved.
