PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser containing a high gain medium enabling further amplification of a main oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) constitution.SOLUTION: In a first amplification structure, the cross-sectional area of a laser beam of picosecond pulse is matched to the cross-sectional area of a gain medium, by using a single pulse external diffusion amplifier. A half wavelength plate 106 between a gain medium 103 and an incident laser beam optimizes deflection of laser beam diameter to deflection of the gain medium. In a second amplification structure, a double path external diffusion amplifier is used, the cross-sectional area of a laser beam is matched to the cross-sectional area of a gain medium, and passed through the gain medium twice. The half wavelength plate and a rotator 105 make a right rotator deflection laser beam through the gain medium, the reflector of maximum (R) coating existing in the rear of the external diffusion amplifier reflects the left rotator deflection laser beam and passes the gain medium, rotator, and half wavelength plate thus performing horizontal deflection. A laser beam is sent out from the amplification structure by a deflection sensitive beam splitter 107. |
