The inventive compressor for high specific suction capacity has a compressor wheel (1) with rotor blades (11, 12). In the region of the smallest distance (TL) between two adjacent rotor blades (11, 12), the respective rotor blades (11, 12) are formed so as to increase the area (20', 20'') bounded by the two rotor blades (11, 12) in the region of the narrowest point. In that context, the blade leading edge (FE) is configured in a sickle shape (20'), that is to say the leading edge (FE) is curved counter to the direction of rotation of the blades (11, 12).
