1. In a system comprised of a plurality of applications wherein each application includes a heap memory wherein unused memory in the heap memory is reclaimed by a garbage collector, a method for improving memory allocation comprising the steps of:
determining a level of memory usage for each application from a level of garbage collection activity of each application; and in response to an application exhibiting a high level of memory usage, increasing a maximum heap memory of the application and decreasing a maximum heap memory of at least one application exhibiting a lower level of memory usage. |
