The expandable anatomical mattress has been created specifically for pregnant women who experience real difficulties in lying down due to the problems said women have in adapting their anatomy to a bed, above all when a woman reaches the final pregnancy trimester. As a result of diverse reasons specific to pregnancy it is difficult for a woman to find the ideal posture to fall asleep, above all during the night. The object of the invention is to provide certain points of support for specific areas of the body being more vulnerable during pregnancy, and in this manner to achieve greater postural wellbeing, assisting the nocturnal rest of a pregnant woman. Said points of support are achieved with the expandable anatomical mattress comprising various movable, independent and expandable parts (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10) adapted, by means of strong Velcro strips sown strongly onto each of said parts, to a central part (1) of non-expandable semi-rigid structure, of rectangular foldable shape, acting as backbone of the expandable mattress. Said central part has a dual function: on the one hand it acts as principal base of the mattress whereto the diverse parts are attached, as has been previously mentioned, and on the other hand it has an important function in the securing mechanism of the mattress based on lugs (A1, A2, A3 and A4) whereon are assembled straps (C1 and C2) tightened beneath the mattress and secured with buckles. With the overall assembly of the mattress a pregnant woman is able to make the areas of greatest tautness of her body, due to the pregnancy, comfortable, in this manner providing the required adaptability to be able to relax and fall asleep. Although the expandable anatomical mattress has been created and designed especially for pregnant women, all those persons who through some circumstance have limited mobility in bed, prejudicing their rest, may also benefit from the use thereof, as may be the case of elderly persons needing to make postural changes, persons with plaster casts, persons having a type of paralysis, etc...
