A character inputting apparatus for an electronic device for inputting the character in application software is provided to input the character in application software by analyzing and photographing the movement of the user. A character input window display module(10) displays a character input window(11) on a screen of the electronic device. An image obtaining unit(20) takes a picture about open and close state of a mouth of a user. An image analysis part(30) analyzes the image of the mouth of the user. The image analysis part detects open and close state of the mouth and the movement of the mouth. A character input part(40) moves a cursor(12) by the movement of the mouth. A character input part selects the character in which cursor is located through open and close of mouth. The character is inputted to the application software.
