The present invention provides an optical fiber comprising core and clad regions. The core region is divided into four sub-core regions, namely first core region, second core region, third core region, and fourth core region, having respective relative refractive indices related by equation Ia:- ?1 > ?2 > ?3 > ?4 Eqn. Ic and clad region is divided into four sub-clad regions, namely first clad region, second clad region, third clad region, and fourth clad region, having respective relative refractive indices related by equation Ib:- ?7 = ?8 > ?5 > ?6 Eqn. Id. wherein, the relative refractive index of the first core region, second core region, third core region, fourth core region, first clad region, second clad region, third clad region, and fourth clad region are ?1, ?2, ?3, ?4, ?5, ?6, ?7, and ?8 respectively.
