PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner having a device for removing dust captured in a rotary pleated filter mounted on the compact vacuum cleaner considering the inhibition of the increased pressure loss, and considering the user's burden necessary for removing the captured dust. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner 100 has the pleated filter 85 mounted on a second rotor 80 and a dust removing means 90 mounted on a first rotor 70 for removing dust by applying the vibration or impact to the pleated filter 85. The second rotor 80 rotates following the rotation of the first rotor 70 during the dust removing operation, and is driven to stop at a position where the pleats 85a of the pleated filter 85 orthogonally cross the direction of air flow. The first rotor 70 continues rotation after the stop of the second rotor 80, and is characterized by the dust removing means 90 applying the vibration or impact to the pleated filter 85.
