PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device which establishes a depositing condition of a luminous layer and has an excellent luminous property of each of luminous elements. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent device is provided with a plurality of luminous layers 70R, 70G, 70B in which there are arranged, on an element substrate, pixel regions composed of a plurality of sub-pixel regions 90R, 90G, 90B of different display colors in a matrix and each of the sub-pixel regions 90R, 90G, 90B has a different luminous color, and barrier ribs for dividing a plurality of the luminous layers 70R, 70G, 70B. At least one of the sub-pixel regions 90R, 90G, 90B composing the pixel regions has a different size from other sub-pixel regions 90R, 90G, 90B, and the sub-pixel regions 90R, 90G, 90B are composed of one rectangular region a, b, or a plurality of rectangular regions c, d, of which the longitudinal sides are combined crossing each other.
