PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently detect information necessary to control a vehicle in accordance with a situation.

SOLUTION: A supposition situation selection part 143 selects a supposition situation closest to the present situation of an own vehicle from among a plurality of pre-supposed supposition situations on the basis of situation information acquired from a situation information acquisition part 111 and a supposition situation selection table 171 through a situation information input I/F circuit 141. A detection processing selection part 151 selects a detection process to be actually performed from among the detection processes which can be performed by each detection portion of a target detection part 145 on the basis of the selected supposition situation and a detection process selection table 172. This invention is applicable to an in-vehicle image processing device.
