PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information gathering system and method capable of gathering information and controlling the gathered information without excessively increasing performance and resources of each node in a proper number of nodes, to which information gathering functions are allocated, or placing excessive loads to a network, and to provide an information processor as a node. SOLUTION: When each of nodes constituting the network has a means for performing a change between an ON state and an OFF state of an information gathering function and a means for determining a change according to a predetermined change rule, a node having an information gathering function autonomously changes to another node according to the circumstances of the nodes constituting the network, and consequently, a proper number of nodes are maintained continuously.
