PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter capable of maintaining a state of meshing a pinion and a ring gear, when stopping an engine, without arranging a plunger stopper using a solenoid. SOLUTION: This starter is constituted so as to maintain the state of meshing the pinion and the ring gear in an engine stopping state by moving resistance generated when a power transmitter moves. Actually, since an inclination of a helical spline in a helical spline engaging part arranged on the output shaft outer periphery of a starter motor and the inner periphery of the power transmitter, is set in the size for maintaining the state of meshing the pinion and the ring gear when stopping the engine, the state of meshing the pinion and the ring gear can be maintained when stopping the engine, without arranging the plunger stopper using the solenoid.
