PURPOSE: A muting time control method and an apparatus thereof are provided to check an over-phenomenon for a frequency of horizontal or vertical synchronization signals during a channel change, thereby automatically adjusting muting time according to the degree of distortion. CONSTITUTION: A channel change detector(20) detects a channel change of a broadcasting program. An over-phenomenon detector(30) detects distortion of a sync signal of the broadcasting program during the channel change. A controller(40) compares the reference value of the over-phenomenon with the distortion. When the distortion is larger than the reference value, the controller provides an adjusting value in which muting time shorter than existing muting time is set. A channel changer(60) adjusts muting time according to the adjusting value during the channel change. |
