Disclosed is a dispersing agent which can improve the dispersion of coloring particles in a solvent in an electrophoretic display device and can also increase the response speed. Specifically disclosed is a display solution for use in an electrophoretic display panel for an electrophoretic display device. The display solution is produced by mixing a first solvent comprising a hydrocarbon with a second solvent selected from an alcohol having 6 to 8 carbon atoms, an aldehyde having 6 to 8 carbon atoms and a ketone having 6 to 8 carbon atoms.
